Solar Powered Cost Savings at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

Background

A new purpose-built facility, consolidating 10 NSW Health agencies into one location has been built at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards NSW, improving collaboration between NSW Health agencies. Given the nature of this purpose-built facility and the various co-located health agencies, the building has been the site of Daily COVID-19 Press Briefings held by the NSW Premier and Health Officials.

Challenges & Objectives

  • NSW Government agencies are required to implement resource efficiency measures and to report on their progress against Government Resource Efficiency Policy (GREP), to the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.
  • To support the objectives and reporting obligations under the GREP framework, Property NSW initiated a plan to install rooftop-mounted Solar PV panels.
  • The objective of the Solar PV initiative is to reduce energy-related operating costs at the newly built facility and ensure overall carbon footprint is kept to a minimum.

What happened

Property NSW engaged 3E Group to develop and implement a turn-key Solar PV solution with a focus on maximising energy savings. 3E Group leveraged its expertise in the design and implementation of turnkey Solar PV projects to propose a comprehensive solution including ongoing Solar monitoring and maintenance.

3E Group is working closely with Property NSW and key stakeholders to ensure health and safety is prioritised throughout the project, including COVID-19 related restrictions and policies. When the project is complete, the NSW Government is expected to save more than $25,000 in energy savings and achieve a 12.2 percentage (%) reduction in onsite electricity usage every year.
