Acquisition to help organisations drive even further cost savings
[Melbourne, 15th June 2021] – 3E Group (rebranded to 3E Group) – One of Australia’s largest independent Energy Savings Companies (ESCOs), have announced the acquisition of Total Power Solutions (TPS)s.
The official announcement was made by Robin Archibald – Group Managing Director, from the brand new National Operations Centre (ENOC) in Melbourne.
“Total Power Solutions has been a leading commercial and industrial Power Quality solutions provider since 2002 and specialises in improving power quality and reducing energy costs through power quality analysis, power factor correction and harmonic filtering,” said Max McKinnon, founder of Total Power Solutions.
Mr Archibald and the Leadership Team identified synergies between 3E Group and TPS to offer clients both leading-edge energy efficiency measures and power quality improvements as an integrated solution to drive cost savings and carbon emissions reductions.
Max McKinnon decided to sell his business to accelerate his plans to retire after a fruitful career of more than 45 years in the industry.
“For some time now, I’ve been considering plans to transition into retirement and looked at various business succession options”.
“My son (Chris McKinnon) who is a qualified Electrician and has worked at TPS for 10 years, has agreed to take on a new role at 3E Group (formerly 3E Group). Chris’s new role is to oversee TPS business operations and sales to support existing TPS clients and grow the newly acquired business unit within 3E Group,” said Max McKinnon.
“I am extremely proud of Chris and I’m confident he will continue my legacy and succeed in his new role at 3E Group” he added.
Chris will handle all ‘business as usual activities for existing TPS clients and work with the wider 3E Group team to introduce TPS services to new clients where relevant.
To ensure a smooth transition, Max will continue to work in TPS on a part-time basis over the next six months to support Chris during the handover and training period.
“Max’s business was an attractive proposition for 3E Group because we had identified synergies in TPS’ engineering-based offering that assists organisations to identify and resolve power quality issues, whilst using sophisticated technology to drive cost savings,” said Mr. Archibald.
“TPS has a good reputation in the market and their existing client base aligns well with 3E Group’s, extending client contacts in the health and facilities maintenance sector; and like 3E Group, TPS also has a strong track record in the industry since 2002” he added.
Mr. Archibald said the acquisition of TPS fits into 3E Group’s strategy to provide a comprehensive set of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to help clients generate Return on Investment on their sustainability initiatives.
By adding Power Quality solutions to our existing capabilities, 3E Group is able to extend its end-to-end service delivery model to help drive even further cost savings for organisations, by holistically improving the energy efficiency of their buildings and eliminate any power quality issues that often have a significant impact on operations,” said Mr. Archibald
