Spot Trade Market Update: Environmental Certificate Scheme Prices – STCs, LGCs, VEECs and ESCs (January 2021)

Small-scale Technology Certificate (STCs) Price Updates:

As of today, 19 January 2021, Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are priced at $38.10. They are $0.10 higher compared to the previous month. Compare to last year’s pricing, which was at $37.80, there is a $0.30 increase in STC prices.

Large-scale Generation Certificate (LGCs) price updates:

Until the end of December 2020, Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) were at $37.50. As of writing, LGC prices are at $41.25 which is $3.75 higher compared from the previous month. There has been a downward trend in prices last year. LGC prices reached $44.50 last October and plunged to $37.00 in December.

Victoria Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) price updates:

Trading for Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) as of to date is at $44.50, which is $2.50 higher than the previous month’s trading price. For the last quarter of 2020, VEEC prices rose by 5.95% which is 44.72% higher compared to in January 2020. However, VEECs prices remained stable as of to date.

Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs) price update:

The current trading prices for Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs) are at $28.10 which is $0.80 higher compared to the previous month price of $27.30. ESCs prices last year were between $23.00 and $30.00. It reached its lowest point at $24.10 in July 2020 while it peaked at $30.20 in April 2020. Trading prices fell at two per cent (2%) during the last quarter of 2020.
