Spot Trade Market Update: Environmental Certificate Scheme Prices – STCs, LGCs, VEECs and ESCs (November 2021)

Small-scale Technology Certificate (STCs) Price Updates: 

At the time of writing, Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are priced at $39.05, an increase of 10 cents compared to the previous month. There was a YoY increase of 3.3% – up $1.25 from $37.80 to $39.05.

Large-scale Generation Certificate (LGCs) price updates: 

As of 30 November 2021, LGC prices were sitting at $41.95 – up by $1.20 (2.9% increase) compared to the previous month, however down slightly from $42.50 posted the previous year.

Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) price updates: 

VEEC pricing increased by 9.8% from October 2021 to November 2021 – up by $6.80 from $69.70 to $76.50. VEEC pricing more than doubled over the last 12 months – up from $30.75 to $76.50, suggesting strong demand for VEECs. There is however some short term volatility in VEEC pricing as it dipped 7% from September to October and bounced back up to its current level.

 Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs) price update: 

The current trading prices for Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs) are at $35.85 which is $0.90 lower compared to the previous month price of $36.75. ESCs prices last year were between $23.00 and $30.00. It reached its lowest point at $24.10 in July 2020 while it peaked at $30.20 in April 2020. Trading prices fell by two per cent (2%) during the last quarter of 2020.
